Community Facilitation; Ruckus Slam; Roving Theatre +

I have always seen my art go hand-in-hand with community, representation, making space for disenfranchised voices and up-skilling. Since 2010, I have been facilitating workshops, hosting events and creating community around performance, poetry and theatre. This has included hosting for Brisbane Writers Festival, Queensland Poetry Festival, The Edge QLD and many more. Many of these events are designed to support, inspire and nurture budding artists in the local community.

The jewel in the crown is the infamous Ruckus Slam!

Myself (Scott Wings hello), Megan Bartholomew, Martin Ingle and Angela Peita set up Ruckus Slam in Brisbane, 2013, to bend the rules of spoken word slam competitions. Ruckus is the only Poetry Slam in Australia with a dedicated YouTube channel. Check out some of our favourite slammers below

Ruckus has since become an unleashed beast of art based around the concept that YOUR WORDS MATTER – LETS HAVE FUN WITH IT.

Ruckus has grown to facilitate spoken word opportunities, immersive theatre, bike tours, treasure hunts, workshops and creative development evenings.

Roving theatre, performance, events and more!

2017 has been a brilliant year littered with festivals and developments including:

  • Dino Slam! kids show at Adelaide Fringe Festival
  • Artist In Residence program at Kelvin Grove State College
  • Run Amok immersive theatre treasure hunt at You Are Here Festival Canberra
  • Loud Compliments and Ruckus Slam at Rainbow Serpent Festival in Victoria
